Privacy Policy

1. Who we are
AdvaEqs (“we”, “us”, “our”) operates the website at advaeqs.com, a Canadian financial technology platform offering AI-powered tools to help retail investors compare deposit rates, analyse their finances, and build long-term wealth. We are the data controller for personal information processed on this site.
Questions about your data or this policy: email info@advaeqs.com.
2. What information we collect
2a. Information you provide
- Account data: if you create an account, we store your email address and the profile information you supply in order to operate that account.
- Waitlist submissions: if you join the waitlist, we store your email address to notify you when your invitation is ready.
2b. Information collected automatically
- Usage data: pages visited, buttons clicked, filters applied, and time spent, sent to Google Analytics (see Section 4).
- Approximate location: country and region inferred from your IP address by Google Analytics. We do not store raw IP addresses.
- Device & browser: browser type, operating system, and screen resolution, collected by Google Analytics for aggregate reporting only.
3. Cookies
A cookie is a small text file placed on your device. We and our service providers use the following cookies:
| Cookie | Category | Purpose | Duration | Party |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| sb-*-auth-token | Essential | Maintains your login session (Supabase Auth) | Session / 1 week | First-party |
| emfa_v | Essential | Records that email MFA was verified for this session | 1 hour | First-party |
| _ga, _ga_* | Analytics | Distinguishes unique visitors and sessions for Google Analytics 4 | Up to 2 years | |
| __gads, ANID, and others | Advertising | Frequency capping, fraud detection, and personalised ad delivery via Google AdSense | Up to 13 months |
Essential cookies are set as soon as you visit pages that require login, and cannot be disabled without breaking core site functionality. Analytics and advertising cookies are only set in accordance with your consent preferences (see Section 7).
4. Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors use the site. Data collected includes pages visited, events (e.g. filter changes, rate-grid opens, bank referral clicks), approximate geographic region, device type, and session duration. This data is aggregated and anonymised. We do not receive individual user reports.
Google Analytics data is transferred to and processed on Google's servers, which may be located in the United States or other countries outside your own. Google is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
Legal basis (EEA/UK): legitimate interests (understanding aggregate site usage to improve the service). EEA/UK visitors who object may opt out via the consent tool (Section 7).
You may also opt out globally at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
5. Advertising: Google AdSense
We display ads through Google AdSense. Google and its partners use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this site and other sites. This may include personalised ads unless you opt out.
AdSense data is transferred to and processed on Google's servers, which may be located in the United States or other countries outside your own.
Legal basis (EEA/UK): consent. Advertising cookies are only set after you provide consent through our consent management platform (Section 7).
To opt out of personalised advertising:
- Google Ads Settings: manage your personalisation preferences across Google properties.
- YourAdChoices (aboutads.info): opt out of interest-based advertising from participating companies.
- Your Online Choices: EU visitors can manage preferences for IAB-member ad networks.
6. How we use your information
- To operate, secure, and improve the site and its features.
- To authenticate you and protect your account (essential cookies, email MFA).
- To understand aggregate usage and improve the rate-comparison tools (analytics).
- To display relevant advertising that helps fund the service (AdSense).
- To send you a waitlist notification if you opted in (email only; no marketing without separate consent).
We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
7. Your consent choices & managing cookies
Visitors from the EEA, UK, and US states with opt-out rights (California, Virginia, Colorado, and others) will see a consent notice powered by Google's certified Consent Management Platform. This notice appears before any analytics or advertising cookies are set, and lets you accept, reject, or customise your choices. You can update your preferences at any time by clearing your browser cookies (which resets the consent notice on your next visit).
Do Not Track (DNT): your browser may send a DNT signal. We do not currently alter our data-collection practices in response to DNT signals because no universally accepted standard for how to respond to them has been adopted. California visitors may use the consent notice or opt-out links in Section 5 instead.
8. Data retention
- Session cookies are deleted when you close your browser or sign out.
- Authentication cookies expire within one week of your last active session.
- Analytics data is retained by Google for up to 14 months under our GA4 configuration.
- Account data is retained for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion at any time (see Section 9).
- Waitlist email addresses are deleted once invitations have been sent or the programme ends, whichever comes first.
9. Your privacy rights
Canada: PIPEDA
You have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of personal information we hold about you. Contact us at info@advaeqs.com. We will respond within 30 days.
EEA & UK Visitors
This site is operated from Canada and is directed at Canadian and US residents. We do not actively target EEA or UK residents. If you visit from the EEA or UK, our analytics and advertising partners (Google) apply their own consent mechanisms for your region. You will be presented with a consent notice before any analytics or advertising cookies are set, and you can decline or customise those choices.
United States: CCPA / CPRA and State Laws
California residents and residents of states with similar privacy laws (Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Texas, and others) have the right to:
- Know what personal information is collected and how it is used.
- Opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information for targeted advertising. Use the consent notice (Section 7) or the opt-out links in Section 5.
- Request deletion of personal information we collected about you (see scope below).
- Non-discrimination for exercising your privacy rights.
We do not sell personal information in exchange for money. We do share identifiers with Google AdSense for cross-context behavioural advertising, which may constitute “sharing” under CPRA. You may opt out using the mechanisms described above.
To submit a verifiable consumer request, email info@advaeqs.com. We will respond within 45 days (extendable by a further 45 days with notice).
Scope of Deletion Requests (Canada & US)
When we receive a deletion request, we will delete the following data we hold about you:
- Account data: your email address, full name, and account profile stored in our database.
- Waitlist record: your name, email, browser information, and hashed IP address if you joined the waitlist, regardless of whether you later created an account.
The following data cannot be deleted by us directly:
- Google Analytics data: analytics events are stored anonymously against a randomly-assigned client ID, not against your identity. We have no way to look up or delete a specific person's analytics events. You can sever the link by clearing your browser cookies (which discards the
_gaclient ID on your device). - Google AdSense data: ad interaction data is held by Google, not by us. Use Google's privacy controls to manage or delete it.
10. Children's privacy
This site is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA/UK). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, please contact info@advaeqs.com and we will delete it promptly.
11. Third-party links
Rate comparison tables link to the websites of financial institutions. Those sites have their own privacy policies and we are not responsible for their practices. We recommend reviewing their policies before providing personal information to any institution.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top. Material changes will be announced on the site. Your continued use of the site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy for jurisdictions where implied consent is legally valid; EEA/UK users will be re-prompted via the consent notice where required.
