Editorial Policy
AdvaEqs publishes plain-language guides to help Canadians make informed decisions about savings accounts, GICs, deposit insurance, registered accounts, and related topics. This page explains how that content is produced and kept accurate.
How We Research
Every factual claim is checked against primary sources: the financial institution's own materials, the relevant regulator or deposit insurer (such as CDIC or a provincial insurer), and the Canada Revenue Agency for tax matters. Where sources disagree, we follow the institution's current statement for its own products and the regulator for coverage and eligibility.
Rates and Figures
Where a guide shows current rates, those figures are drawn live from the same rate data that powers our comparison tools, so they reflect the latest rates we track rather than a number frozen when the article was written. Rates change frequently: always confirm the current rate with the institution before acting.
Review and Updates
Guides carry a published date and, where applicable, a last-reviewed date and reviewer. We revisit content when rates, rules, or products change materially.
Not Financial Advice
Our guides are general information, not personalized financial, investment, tax, or legal advice. We are not a licensed advisor. For advice specific to your situation, consult a qualified professional.
